Mercedes Connect Me

Well a garage phone call anyway, thanks guys. I'm in a dealer blackspot, any recommends on dealers out of Grimsby, Doncaster or Lincoln? Can you tell where I live yet?!

Tiim533. Surely this is exactly he same if someone sells their car? Presumably MB can just deactivate it and re enable for the new user?

I would think so as well. But from what I understood from my dealer the leasing companies will allow Mercedes Me for the emergency call stuff if you crash and the airbags are deployed, but many won't allow Mercedes Connect Me which is the app on your phone.

What does the bottom traffic icon do? It's displayed on mine all the time I think.

That icon means that your Comand has been configured to get live traffic information from the TomTom server. Normally the standard subscription lasts 3 years, after which you have to pay a fee if you want to keep the service active.

I'm just saying what MB told me. Remember, Mercedes me allows you to track and unlock the vehicle. When the lease company takes it back, you could go back and unlock it!

And what is different from an owner selling a car and being able to do that, to a lease owner handing the car back??? none!!

If thats the case we had better uncode all mercedes me enabled cars be it lease or owned for fear of the cars being taken once sold on. [emoji106]

Does anybody one else think it's weird that on your phone you can check tyre pressures, coolant level, amount of fuel, washer fluid, battery condition, brake pads, brake fluid *BUT* not engine oil level?

You can check engine oil level on the dash (at least on my 16.5 year old E Class)
Wouldn't have thought it that difficult for MB to transmit the oil level too for C class?

I'll have to pop the bonnet to check at some point :)

And you are a particularly rude and angry person and have added nothing to this thread aside from your insults towards me. So go and shoot another messager to amuse your little mind.

I fail to see why people post misinformed information for others to then read and assume is correct. You are incorrect with your advice and your reasonings make no sense whatsoever.

Im not out to amuse my little mind, just correcting to help others reading forum.

Pick your bottom lip up off the floor and get on with it, not out to shoot you. You said it once, and I made you aware this is not the case.

Great. So help people out and name some leasing companies which will allow MB dealers to enable Connect Me services. As on this thread and the other thread I posted, and my dealer who I just phoned, don't know of any. Robinsons MB will only set it up on a car they have sold directly or to some one with their V5 and proof of ownership.

Tiim

My C350e is a company car leased through Alphabet who sub-leased through Grosvenor. Connect Me approved and enabled.

Explain to me what is different from a lease owner company handing a car back and a private seller handing a car to somebody else?

It is down to individual to take car to dealership to enable the connect me services in terms of lease vehicles, not the lease company.

Its a feature of the car which Mercedes are obliged to provide as it is their product.

I asked my Mercedes Dealer, they indicated it is the leasing company who dictate what remote services are switched on or off. As I was keen to ensure the car I was buying did not have these restrictions because I was buying through Mercedes lease division as a private individual, rather than company lease. Dealer said my private purchase did not have the restrictions that others might have.

The dealer muttered something to do with privacy I think, but as you say, same situation would arise from a private car.

Yes, it is a feature that mercedes are obliged to provide... to the owner of the vehicle. If that happens to be a lease company then it's their shout. Apparently some / many of them do not want the service prompts etc to go their customer from mercedes (who can see requirements etc when connect me is activated) as they have their own service arrangements. There is also some talk around data protection but I've never been bothered to get my head around that argument.

Most employees wouldn't want their employer tracking there whereabouts from GPS co-ordinates on their phone. So I guess being able to monitor your location in your car is along a similar vein?

Go somewhere else. My local dealer did mine no questions asked, and mine is a lease.

Fancy telling everyone who your local dealer is then, so everyone else can get theirs done?
