    Hi Jim, I dont think that this would be suitable for what you need. At the bare minimum you would require a diagnostic kit which uses a RS232 protocol (serial port) and not USB. The cheapest option (apart from the dedicated MB systems STAR etc) would be a Carsoft 7.4 kit (if you go for a Carsoft kit, then please make sure it has ALL lines wired). Hope this helps. The Carsoft kit works on OBD2 up to approx 2003 (can be confirmed via a Google search). HTH

    Hi there, do you think the carsoft kit would do the coding then, my car is on a 56 plate. Are all kits like this worth avoiding then? I assumed other than a STAR kit they all pretty much did the basic functions! thanks again.

    could this work? although i'm quite good with electronics/laptops etc... I need all the help I can get with figuring this stuff out!!! thanks.
