Two Mercedes drivers and an Audi motorist have become the first to be prosecuted as part of a supercar crackdown in one of London’s wealthiest districts.
The trio were all found guilty of breaching a public spaces protection order (PSPO) by creating a nuisance with their cars in Knightsbridge.
The council introduced the PSPO to combat anti-social driving in the area, leaving motorists liable for fines if they raced, revved engines played loud music or sounded their horns.
It came after the authority received a huge number of complaints about the high-powered cars being driven "in a reckless and aggressive manner" over the summer.
Drivers Adrian Krasniqi, Omar Khalil and Allamer Abdullam were prosecuted after they failed to pay £100 fines issued by Kensington and Chelsea council.
Krasniqi, of Moors View Close, Bedford and Khalil, of Abbey Road, St John's Wood were served with penalty notices for sudden and rapid acceleration while Abdullam, of Verdon Street, Sheffield was caught playing loud music.
Abdullam and Khalil were found guilty in absence after they did not attend court and received fines of £440 and ordered to pay £470 costs.
Krasniqi admitted the breach by post and was fined £295 with £130 costs.
They became the first to be taken to court since the order was introduced.

Reckless supercar drivers could have their cars seized in Chelsea

Following the verdict, Cllr Tim Ahern said: “We have been trying to combat the nuisance of antisocial driving around Knightsbridge for some time and this is why we introduced the PSPO in the first place.
“The result here sends out a clear message that we will pursue people who break the rules. I would remind everyone coming to the area to enjoy the many shops but remember it is also a residential area.”
In July, the council said the scheme was a dramatic success with fewer complaints lodged over mega-rich drivers.
A breach of a PSPO can lead to a fine between £100 and £1,000 for each offence.

Pursue them and fine the owners their equivalent of a 1p. They would pay more than that to be allowed to make noise.

The fines should be uncapped and means-tested. A complete waste of time unless the fine actually has an impact.

Give them a Section 59 warning, if they do it again the vehicle can be seized. The buggeration factor of retrieving it will far outweigh any fine.

Saudi oil. 440 quid? 440000 they might actually notice.

Buggering is too good for them. ;)

They should get a warning the first time ; second time merits a fine and third time they lose the car and if foreign nationals should be deported back to country of origin with no return for at least a year .

The kind of foreign nationals doing this sort of thing are quite possibly not the sort that you deport.

Or at least not if you want their dads to sign those deals for Typhoon jets, Challenger tanks and various items of "crowd control" equipment.....

I don't believe that any of these were foreign nationals?

It seems like they cherry pick the ones they know won't cause them any grief when it comes to prosecution.

Quite a few of the local 'boy racers' are in fact members of car clubs sharing expensive supercars. Technically the cars are 'rented' so confiscating cars might not be an option.

On another note.... we don't actually know that the cars were stopped and drivers' details taken at the scene.........?

My understanding is, the people that are under scrutiny, are not people with "super cars" who happen to be driving up the road.
Rather, the people with "super cars" who are actively seeking to draw attention to themselves and their cars. In doing so, they are achieving exactly that.

There are videos aplenty on YouTube and on this forum that highlight why this is becoming a menace and seen as anti social. The test is "would you like it outside your front door 24x7"?
The answer by some of those in question is "no they would not" hence why they do this outside someone else's front door and NOT their own.

It is unlikely that said dads would condone loutish behaviour and most likely would mete out their own discipline to their offspring for bringing the family name into disrepute .
