Mercedes E220 cdi question?

Hi all you helpful Members,
I have a 2005 E220 cdi, the red warning display on the dash has a picture of a battery and the message VISIT WORKSHOP,i have checked the v belt and that's o.k. Has anyone got any idea's of what the problem may be,the car is still running O.K.

Have you checked the second battery under the bonnet , this could need changing

Or the battery control unit needs updating.

I've had this message appear 3 times in the past 3 weeks but nothing untoward has happened !

I thought I would leave it until the next service which won't be long.

It would be an idea to get it checked quickly as the SBC braking system requires a functioning charging system to work properly. If it gets a very low voltage then you could experience an emergency brake only situation hence the big red display telling you to get it checked.
