I recently took my 2016 Mercedes E220d Coupe (W207) for its MOT, and it failed due to the rear fog light. The tester said that more than half of the LEDs in the fog light weren’t functioning. However, when I check the rear fog light myself, I can see that only two LEDs light up when the fog light is activated, and the other three are used for the reverse light, which works fine.
I've searched online and can’t seem to find any official documentation confirming how many LEDs should be functioning for the rear fog light. I’m wondering if this is the correct setup, as it seems like the MOT center may have misunderstood how the light is designed to work.
Has anyone with a similar W207 coupe (2014–2017) experienced this? Is it normal for only two LEDs to light up for the rear fog light? Any advice or documentation you can point me toward would be a huge help, especially before I go back for a re-test!
Thanks in advance for your help!
