Mercedes E230 1996 P reg

Hi All

I am new to Mercedes and I have just purchased a 1996 P reg E230 Elegance.

I have 4 problems:

1. The windscreen washer pipe is not squirting water onto the screen, it is pouring out onto the engine/floor. It probably needs reconnecting but I cant seem to take the plastic bit off under the bonnet.

2. When I start the engine and drive for a 2 minutes the radiator light comes on but goes off after driving - why is this happening

3. The heater blowers in the car are not that powerful and the inside steams up pretty quick

4. I thought when the engine is running and you take the oil cap off then oil shouldnt squirt onto the engine mine is - is this normal

PLEASE help me resolve the above

1. u may be able to access this from under the car if u get it on ramps...?

2. is the fluid low?

3. make sure pipes have not come apart under the carpets/dash area - remove "floor" of the dash to see the pipes (ie under glovebox/steeringwheel) and footwells to rear...

4. i think it should only feel pressure on your hand if u cover it up, it should spit too much out

I'm not sure if I am looking in the right place but the black expansion tank just above the radiator is full. Is there another expansion tank cos i can't see it.

I will check the heater blowers, is it quite easy to locate the pipes?

There is just one blower motor, the best thing to check is the filters as these directly affect the ventilation output performance and are cheap to replace or cheaper to beat against a wall to get the dirt out

the windscreen washer pipe always pop out on mine .......you'll see two plastic plates located under the jets under the bonnet ,just prise those off with a flat blade srewdriver and reconnect the pipe.to make sure it doesnt come off again just use a small plastic tie back....sorted

THe washer is now sorted. I'm converned about the heater blowers not blowing enough air and the radiator light that stays on when the coolant level is ok.
