Just discovered this site. If you type in the registration date and answer the option questions it will print you off the Mercedes Service Sheet for your service. Helpful if you aren't going to Mercedes to get it done!

Hmmm, interesting.
I did mine and the ESS said to use an engine oil to MB229.3, my maintenance booklet that came with the car back in 1997 said to use oil to MB229.1.

I wonder if this is why my hydraulic tappets are a little noisy on cold to warm engine start.

I tried it for the V221 with a DPF, the sheet even mentions DPF but still talks about ordinary 229.3 or 229.5 oil instead of 229.51 or 229.31 oil.

Thats strange isn't? Ive been looking into 229.5 spec oil and there aren'y that many to choose from.
