Hi, I am new to this forum, I have just moved to Hastings and am looking for a good Mercedes garage , I have a 1984 230E auto , I would like to find someone who is pretty local, Any ideas? Thank you in advance

Lots of options in Brighton / Hove / Worthing:

* Haynes of Worthing
* AJ Robertson in Hove
* Mercedes of Brighton (MB Authorised)
* Rivervale Mercedes (MB Authorised)

Bumping this up, as a new member

Tobyh,
I would be interested to know if you have now found a local specialist.
I'm also in Hastings, but I'm new to Mercedes ownership.

MB Eastbourne, although for an '84 230E dealer prices may be a bit on the high side

Andy K - Thanks for quick reply

I assume that you mean the main dealer near Pevensey and Westham station, I popped in there the other day and the fellow in the parts department was very helpful.

It's a 2001 C240, not due a service for about 7,000 miles but I would like to hear peoples views ready for when it is time to get it done.

That would be Robbie - he's a star with the older cars :)

tell him you are a club member (or that you know me) and ask him for some discount :)

Sorry, I mixed you up with the original post - MB Eastbourne will price match with most of the indies for servicing, they are very competitive

Nice to see another East Sussex member

Hi Andy.

My mother is in Fairlight, so you could
say I'm almost local!

Whist of Cornish descent, hence the moniker, I am based in Seaford and have used Rivervale at Portslade on recommendation of a client who has a collection of modern Mercs.

I think Eastbourne Merc dealers have recently changed ownership and my initial lack of enthusiasm for the way they treated my first approaches may be out of date.

However Steve Stratton at Rivervale seems helpful and they got a recent Mobilo claim sorted for the car as well. Also have a client that specialises in older cars - Motorline based at Firle - which may be another option for "classics".

Cornish,
Thanks for the alternatives, Eastbourne is nearer to me and appear to be Ok so will be giving them first chance.

What part of Cornwall are you from ? I was a Bodmin boy until about 1963.

Thanks for your suggestion,
I was at MB Eastbourne last week and they do appear to be a good place to take the car. Somebody called Chris looked after me and apart from my having to pay the (what I considered to be reasonable) bill it was a pleasant visit.

Good luck with the new puppy, but for his safety please keep him on a short leash when I'm drivng through Bexhill.

If you see a Jasper blue C240 Reg X443??? gie me a wave, and I'll stop at the nearest hostelry for a beer.

I live in St Leonards and I can vouch for MB Eastbourne, used them many times over the last five years or so.

I know Chris Willard and Gary Willis (who is the service manager) very well, both very helpful and knowledgable.

I can also recommend a local garage, not MB specialist but I take both my cars there for any work that doesn't involve getting a service stamp in the book unless it needs to go on the diagnostic machine.

They are called Tivoli Auto Services, Battle Road, St Leonards, just behind Costcutters. Paul White is the man to speak to, tell him Leigh from Scott James sent you.

Cheers, Leigh.

Thanks Leigh

Why did I not think of Tivoli before now?
I seem to remember that they are great people who set up shop when Tivoli/Silverdale closed down some years ago.

That's right, they used to be a main Volvo Dealer but they work on all makes now. They are very careful aswell, I have used them for the last 15 years or so.

Hi
I am new to this site, and have just bought a 1997 SLK, I also live in Bexhill, so has been interesting reading the posts, and finding out where the Mercedes dealers are.
The inside of the car is black and red, you wouldn't know where I could get a repair done, as the red plastic/vinyl has worn in places where people have put their arms, and the black is coming through, any help would be appreciated.

there are two decent auto trimmers/repairers around here.

One is up in Ore Village and I've forgotten the name of them :(

The others are called Upton and son - they are in the first unit on the left as you go into Brunel Road industrial estate in Hastings

As it's such a small place, whereabouts in Bexhill are you?

The one in Ore village was Uptons. I thought they had moved to Drury Lane, might be mistaken.
