Mercedes GL 2010

I have a Mercedes GL 2010. When I press the lock button on the keys the car locks no problem. If I pull the drivers handle the door will then unlock itself and the alarm will go off. I have spoken to the person I brought the car off and they tell me that the lock is in upside down and the car is now in security mode. I have spoken to Mercedes and they have not heard of this before. They say that I need a new lock but a lock for a ML has been on order for 6 months so they don't know how long it will take. Has anybody had this issue or ever heard of this before? its a major issue as I cannot leave my car anywhere as you can imagine. I am going to a concert on Saturday and need this sorted.

Have you tried locking the car then leaving the keys in the house , then pulling the door handle? It should not unlock unless the key is with you, so if that s still the case, your car is safe.
If it still unlocks with the key nowhere near it then obviously you have a faulty keyless go handle. The previous owner is telling you a porkie as you can't fit the handle in upside down

Yeah I have taken the key a mile away and tried the handle and it still opened setting the alarm off. He told me that the barrel was in upside down not the handle. I'm not sure if he is fobbing me off. It did come from a dealer but he seems reluctant to buy a new lock.

Keep pushing the dealer for a new lock. Security is obviously very low with a door anyone can open and as such, its unacceptable.

If you have bought a 2010 GL that is a significant monetary purpose.
get back to the dealership and refuse to leave till it is sorted - they obviously already knew about the issue.
Don't mess about with them - make them aware of your rights.
You could always use fbook/twitter if they refuse to sort it....seems very successful way of dealing with problem companies these days (sadly imho).
