Mercedes gl420 door mirrors don't match

Hi my drivers side door mirror has a thick black surround and the passenger is a plain mirror without surround is that normal?

Yes the the drivers mirror self dims in bright light, and is filled with a special fluid to achieve the dimming effect. The thicker edge contains the fluid. The passenger side mirror is a normal heated mirror.
