Mercedes Me and Old Owner Details?

I tried to register the Mercedes Me app on my phone, but it's saying the car already has owner details listed.

Two questions

1, Do I need to get to a dealer to get the old owner removed?

2, Is Mercedes Me worth it?? Can I set things on the car remotely?

Cheers

If you bought the car from an MB dealer, then they should sort this out for you

If you bought the car from a non-MB trader, or privately, then you can either walk into your nearest MB dealership with a copy of your V5C and photo ID and ask them to sort it out for you, or call the Mercedes me helpline on 00800 9 777 77 77 and ask for their advice.

The Mercedes me services available for your car will depend on how old it is, if it's 2015 there will be only few services, if its 2020 there will be plenty....

Two things that are available via Mercedes me and may of interest are online access to the car's service history aka Digital Service Book (if serviced by a dealer or specialist), and TomTom Live Traffic subscription for the satnav (if you are using the COMAND navigation).

Yea bear in mind the app is just a nice add-on. But as @markjay says, there is more to it when using the website like service history etc. so I'd Def. Get it fixed now rather than later.

I think you got to take your logbook to a dealership and they can register your VIN to your username.

Thanks for the replies guys, especially Markjay, very informative 👍🏻
will get to the dealer as soon as the logbook arrives

Out Of interest how do you see the service history on the ME?

After a dealer service has been performed, the dealer will provide you with a Digital Service Record document, which will also have a code called SecCode.

In your Mercedes me account online, you choose the Digital Service Book option, and you'll be prompted to enter the SecCode. This will provide you with access to the car's service history as recorded on MB's Central computer.

But obviously, this will only be possible after you had a service at a dealer (and possibly also at an independent specialist with access to the DSB - but I'm not sure).

As mines just over 2 months old then no service, previous cars never even knew, maybe they need to give uou an instruction book to work it.
