Hi all, quick question does the W212 E Class late 2015 car work with vehicle location on the Mercedes Me app. It used to work on my 65 plate A45 yet I'm struggling to link it on the E63.

Do you mean the adapter, if so then yes but the adapter services are being stopped within the next 2 months

On my 2016 C class, it's now suppposed to be a chargeable extra called "Guard 360" at £139.00. But having said that, it still seems to work without me paying. (although when activating it, it does state "not available", but after a few seconds it works)

I have the guard 360 which for the 2015 E class is to report a stolen vehicle, I'm sure in the product description it said to track and locate yet it doesn't seem to appear.

Is there something I need to tick on the NTG to link the car?

Adaptor? Didn't need one for the A45 and if this is being switched off how if at all do you use the service on an older model

You shouldn't need the Mercedes me adapter on a 2015 W212 if it has COMAND. It should have the 3g KOM Module. Not sure about cars equipped with Audio20 though, these got the 3g modem at a later stage. Also, keep in mind that on early cars, the range of Mercedes me services available was limited. From memory, with COMAND NTG4.5 you could only get the TomTom Live Traffic service, with the later COMAND NTG5*1 more services became available.

For the W212, that would be COMAND NTG5*1.

Assuming that you've registered the VIN to your Mercedes me account online, you should be able to see on the website what services are available to purchase for your car.

I have the App and VIN is registered and I paid for the Guard 360 thinking it would give me the tracker, geofencing and vehicle locator however these are deactivated and when I click to purchase it all directs to the navigation package. There's nothing in there product details that suggest it includes anything other than live traffic info and that I'll never get stuck in traffic again......... Anyone know if thus will include the bits I'm after.

All cars with the 3G comms module, which will include your 2015, are being deactivated and you won’t be able to renew any subscriptions for geolocation, remote locking etc from this year. This is due to Vodafone phasing out 3G. There is no upgrade path so unfortunately these services are no longer available. Had the same issue on my 2016.

Thanks Rob, that makes sense then. Shame though

Sorry for bumping this old thread.
But being new to Mercedes Benz and Mercedes Me, I note that the location of my cannot be established.
I understand that this appears to be a common fault.
Would purchasing the 360 guard provide me with a location service of my vehicle, or is purely used, should you car be stolen?
My S Class is a 2015 model on a 65 plate.

If your car has the old 3g modem, then no Mercedes me remote services will work with it, because the Vodafone 3g network that MB are using is due to be shut down. If it has the newer 4g modem, then you're fine (for now).

When you go on the Mercedes me website, is the '360 Guard' service showing as available for purchase for you vehicle, under the Services section?

Yes it is along with the Navigation service.
How do I tell which modem I have?

In our 2019 C Class (NTG5.5) there's a connection status indicator at the top left corner of the COMAND screen ... this shows 4G (or occasionally 3G if there's no 4G signal).

AFAIK Guard 360 is purely to do with tracking/reporting theft. We haven't purchased it, but the vehicle location function in the app works fine. If the car is new to you check that sending the location is enabled in the cluster menus - this can be turned off for privacy.

I think that as its a 2015 model, the app may not been working to its full capability

Not sure when MB started rolling out 4G comms modules. A 2015 car might well have a 3G one, I suspect.

Hi , on my car ( 2015 ) the Mercedes me app never really worked well and our friends across the water could not care a t***.
