Just thought with so many moans regarding dealerships I would put in a positive for this one (although not without a moan for another one). I live near Skipton where there is a Mercedes dealership but have found myself using Bradford more and more.

When I send them an email I get a reply almost straight away and which every department I phone I get through to - the reverse it true for Skipton. When I had many many troubles with my B class in the summer I used Skipton, I then appealed to them for a discount for the n'th part that I needed to purchase. They offered 10%. I phoned Bradford, explained that I had already purchased a full front right hand side suspension set up, springs, ARB, starter motor and steering rack can they do anything on the shock and top mount, even though I didnt buy from them. They gave me 20%.

Just emailed for some servicing quotes for a B service, no reply in 2 days from Skipton, £230 from a MB indi and £199 from Bradford. They are also doing the Spark plugs for £130, £80 less than another indi I phoned - its very complicated.

With their labour rates of £65/hour I can see myself using them more and more.

A franchised Mercedes Benz dealership charging £65 per hour labour rates? I find it hard to believe.... they must be inundated with work.

I told them that if only I knew sooner. Sorry I forgot to mention its for cars 6 years and older. Younger ones cost £109/hour.

Their show room is outstanding as well with their planted and roped off entrance way certainly eclipsing Mercedes Leeds. They have a stunning old classic by the service area and everything is set out well, the only thing missing is an SLS. Their professionalism and customer service skills are better than any dealerships Ive been to. The whole experience is befitting of what the marque used to represent and makes you feel special, its as if they take huge pride in what they do.

I'll feedback after my first actual experience of them dealing with my car but so far Im impressed.

Is this not age descrimination:D

My nearest MB dealer charges £60 per hour, cheaper than the local indies and you get a free courtesy car too. I still don't see them inundated with work as most owners do not go near them once their cars are older.

I think people assume as I did that they would be more expensive. I initially emailed them to find out what exactly needed doing but when I got the quote I booked it straight in.

My local Mercedes indi charges £55/hour so for an extra £10 I will go to a proper dealership with courtesy cars and the royal treatment. The stamp in the book also helps resale.

Another plus is that they have to charge book prices which I have found optimistic in the past. For example, my spark plugs have been quoted at 2.5 hours labour from every indi I've spoken to, even forums speak of it being a 3 hour job for those with 'reasonable mechanical knowledge'. MB books quote 1.2hours which makes them quite a bit cheaper.

I've bought 2 cars from them and also have my servicing done there. Absolutely excellent, on time, on price and very nice people.

What a change from MB Leeds although they have the same owners.

I bought my SLK there way back in 2006. Because:
They had the car I wanted.
Gave a healthy discount in the days when it was rare on an SLK.
Did everthing they could to help with a good P/ex price.

Pity they are not exactly local to Norfolk...:(

I took the car in last night ready for tomorrow and got a phone call saying that there was a computer error and they need to order some more spark plugs in so the car wont be ready until Tuesday/Wedsnesday. They were very apologetic and I am able to keep the courtesy car until then so no harm done. At least I will appreciate the 2.0 Turbo back all the more after getting used to the 1.5 N/A engine.

It would be great to have a list of dealers similar to the above, obviously not all will agree about a dealer, but over time a trend may emerge. And the good uns do deserve a pat on the back.

fwiw, i asked for a quote for quite a lot of servicing work,2005 320cdi v6, full serv, all filters, trans oil, brake oil change, it came to nearly £1200. I mentioned to them that the £349? they quoted for the sevice is listed a lot less on the merc w/site for cars of this age, so in my mind £200 could be knocked off for starters. They said the service manager was busy, and would call me later........they never did, Plymouth.

...or, as I was, were hit by bad main dealer service when the car was younger.

(just to be clear, I am not referring to any of the dealerships that have been mentioned in this thread so far)

I finally got an email back from Skipton Mercedes quoting £70 more than Bradford. Im not sure whether to reply and let them know that other dealers took 40 minutes to reply and within the 4 days it took them I had organised, booked, changed my mind over whats to be done and already taken my licence into be photocopied for the courtesy car. I get the feeling as though they wouldnt be that interested.

It seems even stranger when you think many dealerships are part of groups, so you expect consistency between Skipton, Bradord, Leeds and Huddersfield as they are all part of Stratstone.

For work reason I use York as always helpiful, last service was Harrogate in May and despite several reminders still haven't got service sheet.

The car is now due another service, so must try Bradford. If they are good they will also get HIDs CLK to service also as it had a service plan included with the purchase.

Well, many days later I shall be collecting my car tonight.

What was intended to be a basic service plus spark plugs as seen it in for almost a week. They didnt have the right spark plugs in stock and then I got a phone call saying that they dont have the specialist tool to extract them and need to order one in from MB UK or if they dont have one then from MB Germany :dk:.

Why Mercedes design them in such a ridiculous way is beyond me. It was a similar story with my starter motor. "Oh you need to take the engine out, which will be 10 hours thanks."

I have still been happy with the way MB Bradford have dealt with everything though and I'll be writing up a direct comparison between the 'fuel efficient' Bluemotion 1.5 that I have borrowed and the 'gas guzzling' 2.0Turbo petrol. Results may surprise you.

Just thought I would resurrect this post with another recommendation on the service provided within new sales. Despite a few "interesting" moments (as there always is buying a new car. I found the staff and Sales Manager to be very reasonable and made the buying experience a pleasure and I'm happy with the deal. Hopefully get the car within 7 days so will update with a delivery update. Have to echo this $tealership is much preferred to that in Leeds.

Good to know. I place a lot of value on a good dealership and although Mercedes UK have all but put me off the brand for good the Bradford dealership is managing to maintain what little interest I have left.
