There are some fantastic bargains there. That SL500 stands out for me, it must have been close to £60K 3 years ago.

The old shape 52 plate CLK320 Cab (£7150), seemed to fetch reasonable money, seeing it is old shape and 6 years old.

CLS320CDi are everywhere - I see loads around my town. I think Mercedes must have flooded the lease market with them? I guess the residuals will only go down even more when they enter the second hand market.

Quite like the look of the Smart roadster for £4000. Those prices for the Bs are making me glad of the high GFV on mine.

Yes, these prices look low, but as it says in the PH thread, they were pretty low spec cars. Personally I wouldn't consider a Merc without Comand or Parktronic (as well as the usual leather, auto, metallic).

Both options can be fitted fairly cheaply though and you still have a bargain?

"Comand or Parktronic"

I thought retrofitting genuine Parktronic was very very expensive.

Sorry I thought normal parking sensors?

They would do for me if I'm saving thousands thanks :)

And the same again for Comand?

But if you don't want the toys, then yes, auctions are a good place to look.

I appreciate command is worth having £1500 say ?

Whats parktronic compared to parking sensors (sorry)

As Parking sensors could be fitted for say £250 ?

Still makes them cheap?

Personally i dont think retrofitting the Command is worth it. I would rather buy a Tomtom is much cheaper and better. IMO of course :D

However if you are about to buy a used Merc then one with factory fitted Command and Parktronic is the one to go for.

If you retrofit parking sensors on the rear they are just audio only, whereas the factory fitted Parktronic is audio & LED bars inside the car which light up, also you get an on/off switch too.

On my ML i've got Parktronic which is front and rear and the LEDs are really handy :)

Why not fit Comand with a parking camera -- no need then for rear parktronic....ideal for the ML.

Going forwards you can always try using eyes.....:D :D

£16K for the CLS 320cdi

and

£21K for the SLK55

WOW...

a lot of car for the money

Brother's father in Law has a SLK55. Paid nearly thick end of 40k for it less than 18 months ago. He's going to love this thread:D .

Once they are below 20k they will be very tempting for me....

Has anyone have a view if there are any significant numbers of W204’s making it into the trade to auctions ? and feel for pricing especially for C320 CDI Sports ?

I’m just in the process of changing jobs and have the option to either hand back my current company car or purchase it outright, I’ve been quoted an option at about £25K for
C320 CDI Sport, Command, Leather Seats, Birds Eye Maple trim, Ipod interface and Advanced Agility pack on an 08 plate (July 08) with just under 4K on the clock.

Any views on how reasonable this price would be compared with trade or auctions ? can’t help feeling that there may be some better deals out there given the state of the market.

Any views appreciated

I think thats a good price, given the v.low milliage and compared with what it cost new.

It's tougher now than ever to judge - if you were selling then you'd probably get terrible (or even no) offers, but if buying then dealer would make the most of the cars good spec.

Normally I'd suugest trying a couple of dealers posing as a seller and see what they'll offer, but I doubt many dealers are buying cars at the moment.

There is some value in you being certain of the cars history.

Here's the latest update to this PistonHead thread on Colchester auction prices. Not too many MB cars this time:

2005 55 Mercedes Benz C200 CDi Elegance SE. 107k. £5,550 SOLD
2006 56 Mercedes Benz C160 SE Coupe. 23k. £7,850 Unsold
2005 55 Mercedes Benz C220 CDi Avantgarde SE Auto. 76k. £8,500 SOLD

Of the other cars, if I had the money, this would have been my choice:

2007 07 Porsche Cayman 3.4 S Tip S Coupe. 16k. £20,600 provisional

what does Provisional mean ? That someone has made an offer and is awaiting to see if it's accepted??

Opps just read the link which says it all..........
