Mercedes r129 500sl foot brake

Ello peoples, right as the hot weather has come out comes the '5 HUNI' ( 500 SL r129) but as it been parked up most of last year and through the winter the foot brake doesn't seem to be releasing so I have to resort in pulling the handle and using the other hand to pull the foot brake up it click down ok and the handle it attached I the foot brake as I can see the cable move when I pull the handle, what could I do to make it release easier as all help is appreciated in advance

A spray of WD40 will sort it out

Had a good go with some wd40 leaving it over night and will see if it's any better tommoro, next time I will know not to put the foot brake on when it's stood all over winter or last year most of the year,
