Hi all,

I have seen other threads on the subject, and wanted a view as to whether or not it would be cost effective for my situation specifically.

I am picking up my new-to-me a 50k mileage 2012 C350 CDI Sport on Saturday 16th June. Attached is the current service history as per the DSR.

I got a quote for the 3 service / 3 year Mercedes ServiceCare for £36 per month. Is it worth it in my case?

Really appreciate any help / your views!

Thanks,
Chris

I have it on mine. You keep Mobilo, and you can budget properly.

An Indy with RAC membership may be cheaper, but assuming you’ll be selling after 3 years having full MB service history is prudent.

Possibly not. Given the ATF, brake fluid and fuel filter were changed recently and won't be due again until after the service plan cover has run out.

It would probably be cheaper to use a specialist independent and have breakdown cover from autoaid. And it wouldn't really affect it's value that much.

I tend to keep my cars for around 3 years, and I will be keeping full MB service history.

36 months @ £36 = £1,296

As per above, the ATF / fuel filter etc. have been changed at 39k miles and I assume won't be needed again until 70k?

I do have a Service Care Plan, and I agree with moog999 - nothing major is coming up in the next few years, other than brake fluid in 2020.

Thanks all.

In reality, and fingers crossed, all I am likely to need over the next 3 years / 3 services are engine oil and filter and brake fluid changes?

In which case I am probably better off just paying MB outright for each service, as it should come in less than the £36pcm?

Thanks for the prompt responses - much appreciated!

Pretty much yes.

If you have a good merc specialist near you then this is worth the same (if not more sometimes) than a dealer stamp in my opinion.
This could halve your service costs, in theory.

My car has the same engine/box as you and similar age, mines has a few more miles though. I had the ATF done recently at a good indy and I intend on doing all the routine service stuff myself. Early august it's due oil, oil filter, air filters, fuel filter, cabin filter, brake fluid, rear discs/pads. That is all stuff I can happily do myself, and I am from Yorkshire so inherently a tight-fisted curmudgeon.

Star Motor Services is 30mins away from me.

I will weigh up whether or not I stick with MB closer to the time. Ideally I'd like to keep MBFSH if possible.

Thanks for the input so far guys!
