In June I was offered a new ML with the new 300cdi Blue Efficiency engine which replaces the 280cdi.

Also offered an ML350cdi Blue Efficiency, which replaces the 320cdi.

And those engines will be in the GL and R class too. But search the MB website on the ML section in vain and no details are given at all. And we are now in August.

Go to a dealer and there are price lists with the new engines in but nothing on the websites.

Then there is the configurator which stopped working in June for most models. I reported it but nothing has been done. I cannot find the configurator for any models today. Is this slothful marketing? Or are MB trying to hide good news from customers?

By the way the new engines are developments of the current V6 diesel but sadly take economy and CO2 emissions barely a mini-step forward. About an extra mile per gallon on the ML and still way up on the CO2 scale. There must be more developments to come as the X5 diesels are well out of the top VED band and the ML needs to be too. The new 4 cylinder diesels are a major step forward on the E class and C class. Surely the V6 can be improved by a similar amount?

And surely MB can get some people to keep its website up to date.

I reckon MB V6 diesels will be improved soon ..

The new 4 cylinder diesels have ultra high pressure injectors, while the V6s still only make do with high pressure injectors.

Once they put ultra high pressure into the V6 diesels, power should be up significantly, and emissions down too.

You might find this article of interest. Mercedes GL-Class Soft Facelift Released - Worldcarfans I think the main change in the Blue Efficiency v6 diesel engines is probably the addition of Blue TEC. It involves injecting a non-toxic aqueous carbamide solution (urea !) known as AdBlueÓ into the exhaust gas flow. This releases ammonia. In the downstream SCR catalyst system the ammonia then converts up to 80 per cent of the nitrogen oxides into the harmless products nitrogen and water. This technology was originally developed to allow Mercedes to sell their diesel engined models in the USA where state legislation had previously banned their sale due to high oxides of nitrogen emissions. Not necessary in Europe at the moment?? may help with future EEC regulations also.

The facelifted GL looks really nice.

then kiss goodbye to reliability (aka bmw)
