I'm confused as to why Star would need to activate cruise, it's standard.

Cruise control needs activating once fitted to vito, its not standard,
I am in Liverpool area, been quoted off a few indys but there quoting between 80-100, and not paying the considering its a 5 minute job

How much did you expect to pay ? It takes me about five minutes to get my star ready to do anything.

Doubt you will get anyone to do it for £40 other than a good mate.
It's only a 5 minute job if you have the kit and know what you're doing.
Take it to a specialist and pay the £100, these folks do have bills to pay and also like to eat.

Cheers,tried there said they can't do it, my main dealer is doing it for £50 so happy days!Give SDC Merc indie, in St Helens a bell, you can only ask.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but where did you get it done in the end?
I'm near Liverpool too, and in the same situation with my B200 CDI; I've fitted the stalk, just need to get the software enabled.
My main dealer was only interested in booking the car in for a hefty bill; when I asked for clarification whether they could do this particular job, he checked with the service staff who were doubtful because they'd never heard of it.

I see that I have 2 messages in my inbox.
I'm hoping they're from kind people who have given me pointers to somebody with a star machine who can do this for me.
Unfortunately, as a new user I can't access messages at all until I hit 30 posts. (I hoped to be able to read them, at least!)
I don't want to start spamming the site just so I can read my two messages.
Is there another way?

Sorry for the late reply Mugwump. The day I was meant to be getting it done the guy who was supposed to be doing it rang in sick (had covid) and to be honest i never got around to rebooking it in. I was getting it done at estar truck and van on edge lane in Liverpool. Need to get it done soon though

Thanks for getting back to me, Ash.
No, I haven't got the cruise control enabled yet. I was hoping to find somewhere while I was off work before Christmas, but it didn't work out. It's probably not going to happen until Spring now.
Useful tip about Estar though, I've never heard of them before, but from what you've said, it sounds like they can do the job.

Just googled them.
It looks like both their Warrington and Liverpool branches have now moved to a new site in Knowsley.
Their website keeps stressing commercial vehicles; I can only ask, but I'm not sure they'd be interested in my B.

Yes mate the branch this was on dock road has now moved to the east lancs road. the one near edge lane still remains. unfortunately they do only deal with the commercial side of Mercedes. Have you tried your nearest merc dealer?
