thx 4 the reply bill. ive looked at the pictures and you car seems to be the same colour as mine. my log book says purple but back to the question i dont know if they are original mb indicators because they have always been on the car since ive owned it. how do you tell?

Remove....

....and check to see, original should be BOSCH, I could be wrong, but you will tell straight away if they are original, it might still have the MB sticker on them. Let me know. Thanks, Bill.

IF u can see BOSCH stamped/printed on then lenses anywhere then they are OEMs. From the pic they do look OEM.

With white clear lenses one can instantly tell from looking at the leneses if they are OEMs or not (well I can from the shade/colouring of the white anyway...).

just had a look, the lenses have bosch and made in germany stamped on them so they are originals. just out of curosity is there a difference between bosch indicators and replicas?

Depends on who manufactured the replicas - TYC are ok but replicas are NEVER as perfect/good as OEMs. The quality of the rubber seal around replica/OEMs is different and one can tell from just touching teh rubber. Also, bulb holders are way more awkard to lock/release on replcias once the units are fitted if u ever need to replace the bulb!!!

It is important that the replicas are marked with an "E" mark to make sure that tehy are compliant with EU regulations. Buy from ECP or G/S/F and the replicas should be ok - I personally would go for OEMs.

On the W126 S Class MB never made OEM white clear indicator lenses so I had no choice but to buy replicas to replace the orange ones. The quality was good/ok BUT the bulb holder contacts on the one of the units was dodgy as randomly the indicator/bulb would stop functioning and require myself to plug/unplug the connection from the connector/wire to the bulb holder contact -WD40 made no difference. I ended up replacing the bulb holders with OEMs from the organge lenses and had to struggle to make them fit in the clear replica lenses.

thanks for detailed description. just to let everyone know i am getting no bids but lots of questions on people making me offers privately then letting the auction run on ebay. im a bit confused now on whether i should let the auction run or wait for a good offer and end the auction. any opinions please on what i should do or what you think that steering wheel is worth. constructive feedback always counts.

I would make it clear what the reserve is and let the auction run - this way you sort out the talkers from the bidders and get the correct market value for the wheel.
