Mercedes have taken it up on themselves to 'sun down' functions of the COMAND system. If you live in Australia, as I do, these factory fitted options are paid for; they're not standard.
There is much noise about this issue on the web, and in many MB forums, such as this one. Mercedes have also taken the approach to not fix this issue either, a firmware update could resolve this problem, and at worst hardware replacement.
