Mercedes tier 1 warranty worth it?

Hi all,

My e250 turns three years old at end of month and I've been quoted £670 for another year with a tier 1 level of cover with no excess.
Any advice if this is worth taking out?
Interestingly on the website the quote was £1050 but when I rang for a quote it was £670? So if anyone is thinking of this it's worth calling them direct.

Thanks

It's always a lottery deciding this for everyone.

It really boils down to what you are prepared to spend to mitigate the risk of something going wrong.

You could have a bill in one go which surpasses the price of the warranty.

On the other hand, you have no issues for a year and have wasted the money.

It comes with Mobilo but to me, this is just a breakdown service and I can source this elsewhere.

When it comes to selling, I know don't like non-FMBSH but I don't mind personally if a good inde is on the history.

I personally save the money I would have spent on the warranty, which was a lot more in my case, and use that should the worst happen.

If you've had the car at least a year, I would say this is enough time to work out if it is a lemon or not.

Still a gamble though.

I wish the warranty for either of mine was that low!

Judgment call but do remember that it also covers wear and tear up to 100k miles.

Price of peace of mind for around 50 quid a month.

PS - with the different prices it is worth checking the excess levels - i have renewed several by both phone and online and have never really seen any cost difference

Thanks it's definitely 679 with no excess (they emailed me the quote) goes to 639 with £100 excess.
Think it was actually somewhere on this forum where I read the price is cheaper if you call them direct?
£679 is a big difference from £1050

Yep - all about miles- first year is dearer though if it is not currently in warranty.

I would opt for the warranty, i appreciate it seems a lot of money but repairing a Mercedes can reach scary costs even when using an independant.

That quote seems quite reasonable to me.

I might go for it as well for above-mentioned £670 but looked online and showed me just over £1k. I'm paying already for service plan and another big monthly payment for Mercedes isn't something I'm very fancy.

I kept my previous w211 E500 under tier 1 until last year ( it was mb approved used when I bought it eight years ago so could be continued) it cost about £8000 over the eight years and I think I got about £2000 of work done so very poor value because the car was so reliable. Also I was surprised how many things were not covered...parking sensors exhaust anything showing any sign of corrosion, seals and so on. The BMW cover I had on the M5 years ago was far far better. Almost total cover

Call them on the phone number. My online quote was £1050 but on the phone was £679 with no excesss?

tier 2 is less comprehensive than tier 1. Tier 1 is the top MB warranty.
