Hello,

Spotted this on eBay, can anyone confirm was this a genuine accessory?

mercedes box tool box sl 107 fully complete | eBay

Never seen one before?

Why would Mercedes be supplying imperial tools? The whole thing looks far more recent, from the Torx bits to the injection moulded box.

It might have been IN a 107 once, but that's about as close as it gets.

If that's still available, it looks a good price!

Remove the MB branding and the kit is worth maybe half that.

Stick a BMW badge on it and watch the ebay bids go sky high.

Its also smaller than you might think. In terms of quality without knowing where it was made and the make of the steel bits/sockets its difficult to judge. It may have imperial sockets as vans can be supplied as bare chassis units and may have their part- bodies fitted later in the country they are destined for using imperial fixings? Without getting hands on one its difficult to judge.

It does look genuine based on Grober's link, but I wouldn't expect Mercedes Benz merchandising to be of exceptional quality.

I have a few bits (umbrella, pen, cap, etc) - as one does :) - and they are generally OK but very entry-level in terms of quality.

An MB tool kit supplied with a new car or van will likely be of decent quality though :thumb:
