AMG ML63
I am absolutely astonished at the laziness, incompetence and lack of service from Mercedes UK and their dealers.

I decided to change from a BMW X5M to Mercedes AMG ML63, when I saw a nearly new one advertised at a local dealer I went to look at it, first visit car wasn't there!! Second visit took for a test drive then told the car wouldn't be for sale for another 5 months! Gave up :wallbash:

Second try 9 months on with another dealer, tried to arrange various viewings but dealer completely lied about vehicle location. Decided to buy on spec with guarantee that (being 90 days old) vehicle was "as good as brand new".

When I went to get the vehicle and inspect it, one alloy was damaged, after some heated words we agreed to buy with a new wheel being supplied.

Then, AFTER paying, we were told, one key was missing but they would get a new one.

New key arrived, phoned local dealer to arrange a date to get it programmed, was told I had to leave a message and they would phone back. 3 weeks on I phoned them back, as they hadn't bothered, and made the appointment!

Local dealer failed to program it claiming the key must be faulty. They said they couldn't get the key replaced as they didn't order it (couldn't be bothered more like!) Left the key with the dealer for them to send it back to the supplying dealer and sort it out.

6 weeks on after no contact I ring the dealer, the lazy **** had done nothing the key had been sat in a drawer for 6 weeks. After a formal complaint to Mercedes UK all of a sudden they could get the key replaced.

Car goes in again and they fail again, the incompetent, can't give a damn dealer, fails again.

Another formal complaint lodged with Mercedes UK.

Local dealer had promised to phone me today, another 3.5 weeks on as I had been away and again let me down, no phone call, no key, no service.

So I've thrown in back at Mercedes UK again telling them I am unwilling to deal with their incompetent dealer.

I have never come across such disgusting service from what I thought was one of the premium car brands, they are bunch of lazy incompetent liars who can't even program a key. 3 franchise dealers, all the same, lies, deception and incompetence, I just hope the new X5M is released soon!! Never had service like this from BMW.
:fail

Even though it's only your first post on the forum, I was with you right up until you sang the praises of BMW...

Hmmm...

My sympathies to you........I can see this is going to be an epic thread.......

I had problems with the BMW, they had to replace my brand new X5M after 3 weeks, but not with the service.

Mercedes service is DISGUSTING, no other word for it.

In fairness my local MB dealer is fine but I've recently dealt with one from another part of the country who were very similar to the one you described. MB UK sorted me out and I'll be very surprised if they don't do the same for you

All I can see is that a wheel needed re-furbing (which they sorted) and you needed a new key reprogramming?

You seem a little highly strung, it's not good for your blood pressure you know.

I'm at boiling point because having spent this amount of money on a car and wasted no end of my time, over a period 3 months, I still only have 1 key for it.

It's like everywhere else there's some good and bad ones !!!
I'm one of the biggest mb defender but I have to agree some mb dealers are a pure wast of space !!!
I believe a bad dealer won't make me change my car !! As mentioned above!

I don't know the age of your ML (and I don't want to add to your ever rising temperature) but most Mercedes keys don't actually need programming; they are matched to your VIN and they work straight away.

that's correct I had one made not long ago and pick it up and worked straight away!:)

Got to say, I can't stand the dealers myself. Put in a few complaints about one lying toerag too. Then arranged to go see/poke/drive an A45, get there, and its not available. Half ****d, offhanded dealer. Hard when you want to buy a car and you're running out of dealers that you're willing to deal with!

It's a November 13 registered, 63 Plate, 2 different dealers have ordered the key from the VIN, the same dealer has failed to get both new keys to register to the car, it has keyless go as well.

They can't decide whether the car has DAS3 or DAS4, they can't decide whether the car needs to be hooked up to a STAR computer to order the key but clearly it didn't as 2 keys were ordered.

It was left 3.5 weeks ago that Mercedes UK would take my working key and copy it, but yet again they failed to contact me to arrange this so I am back at square one and have thrown it back to Mercedes UK again.

Did you assume that somehow MBUK would read about your plight on here and might move things on for you?

I'd suggest Twitter or the other one would be more effective.

No I didn't, I'm merely ranting in public to get it off my chest, maybe I should go to twitter.

Not many companies really piss me off but EE did last year when I paid them to unlock 2 iphones and they did nothing for 3 months, I used one of our webservers to auto tweet every 5 minutes, after 12 hours they were on the phone begging with an instant unlock (apparently impossible) and refunds! Maybe I should try the same with MB?

I very surprised you didn't call a halt there and go and buy something else. 10/10, you're a better punter than me!

Main Dealerships, from my experience, just seem to do the basics and charge a fortune. If you're buying you get the best service possible. If you're not then they don't need to care that much as there will be another punter along soon.

Sounds very cynical but we live in an age where customer loyalty is not worth much anymore to large (or even small) companies.

This may sound very strange but, and I agree that you shouldn't really have to do this yourself, but speak to the parts department at the dealers yourself and ask to order a new key then tell them that the supplying dealer will take care of the cost because unless it's changed in the last year or so, that key should come all set up to be used.

In my experience, there are good and bad MB dealers, my local one I will never set foot in again, after both sales and service debacles.

The cars though are on the whole good, my suggestion is work through the issues, keep patient but firm, and then let us know your location and we can suggest a dealership that will be OK within a certain radius.

As soon as the car is out of warranty, mine go to the independent specialists.

I think I'd now want to do this. Sort it out personally and quickly then explain to MB UK how easy it was and why couldn't their dealership network manage such a simple task.

It would even be a better rant than on here where you will get sympathy, agreement but unfortunately achieve little. Unless having a rant has helped?
