Mercedes vito 109 2006 key problem

I order last week a key from MB and this morning came
I put it in the ignition and i have a funny wtiting on the dash
I m3ntion that the remote doesn't unlok or lock the car
I dont know what to do
I called mercedes and they say leave it in the ignition for like an hour

Hi,
So this is a brand new key from Mercedes, costing an arm and a leg. Did it open your doors ok? Did it " clunk " and let you turn on the ignition but not start the van.
All you have now is "Strange Writing" which I cannot see but there seems to be a picture of a key on the dash. I presume you may have to sync the key to the ignition.

We had a new key some time ago and I was told that it did not require coding as previous but just placing in the ignition where a "handshake" with the vehicle took place.
