Good evening to the whole community :)

I have a question about my car's lights
I am impressed that having the switch in the zero position the lights do not turn off and the indicator of the low beam is permanently on the panel
I have read that it is a matter of safety and this feature called daytime running lights (DRL)

Would you please tell me how I can turn this off?
my car has no buttons on the steering wheel and i do not know if i can deactivate it in the car's menu or if i need the mercedes diagnostic tool STAR
I think the above is not a short circuit issue for example since the diagnostic does not give an error code
if you know how to turn the DRL off either from the car or from your diagnostic please help

Thanks in advance,
Chrstos

Hi.

This isn't quite the right part of the forum for this, but I cannot move it for you...but anyway, the DRL function is permanent - it's a regulatory requirement so cannot be turned off.

In other words, it's a feature, not a fault.

I assume this is a local requirement ... I don't think UK spec. pre-facelift W639s ever had it. Our 2007 certainly doesn't - in the '0' position the lights are off (whether the engine is running or not).

Thanks for the quick reply and im sorry for the wrong part of the forum
Is there any way to disable it?Like via Star or any relay disconnection for example?

My apologies, I didn’t pay attention to your vehicle details! Star might be able to do it given how powerful it is but you’d need an expert to answer that I think.

Ask the moderators to move this to the Electronics and Audio section as more people will see it there.

Any answer please :( ?
Is anybody who knows where to navigate in star to deactivate this option?
