12cm is a difficult size to replace, and too small for decent bass output. I put some Rainbow speakers in the dash of mine a few years ago, but the dashboard has poor acoustic qualities no matter what, and I think they are NLA. I've had Pioneer and Blaupunkt over the years, both sounded ok until you put the roof down. The previous owner had already modified the rear speakers in mine, but rear passengers cancel them out. I have bought some genuine door pockets which accommodate larger speakers and spare door cards but haven't got round to installing them yet.

I have Rainbows in the dash of the estate and Morels in the rear driven from a Becker Cascade head unit. The Rainbows are very clear for speech and midrange but obviously given the size and position they lack bass and depth. They are however a huge improvement over the usual front speakers in a 124.
Keep looking in i would think other members have uprated theirs . I have a normal cd radio by Blaupunkt with the same speakers and i am happy with it .Even had one speaker repaired that cost more than a new one ,, just to get the same sound
