Brief Summary of the car as it is now:
This really is a beautiful example of a rare Mercedes-Benz W124 E320 Cabriolet. Making it even rarer is the fact that this is a factory Sportline spec car. As you can see from the build spec above the car was built with all the right options ticked! Finished in brilliant metallic silver with an immaculate black leather interior hood up or down this car has a majestic feel about it and always turns heads. It has a 5 speed automatic transmission with sport and winter modes, it drives as it should and both the engine and transmission run beautifully. All the electrics work as they should (air-con, cruise control, heated electric seats, head lamp wash wipe, multi cd etc etc)
There is a good reason that they call the W124 an over engineered Mercedes. If I am being fussy the only thing I think would benefit the car is a replacement mohair hood, although it works and the opening and closing mechanism works perfectly there is some small patches of age related wear too the fabric which do not affect the hood from still being water tight. It is still the original from when the car was new.
These Sportline Cabriolet's are quite rare with less than a 100 R.H.D models being made and even less on the roads today. If you want a piece of German engineering at its finest then look no further, with summer coming now is the time not to miss an opportunity of owning this vehicle . Car will come with 12 Month MOT.
Brief Previous History (Summarised)
This car was bought from the local main agent by the Mr Bullock (Registered Keeper a company), when just two years old for £42,000.00 I have the original Invoice. The director of company then used it as his company car until 2009 when he decided to give it an extensive refurb by a local Independent specialist (Gerry Doverman – The Bird Garage) this consisted of the following work:
Engine overhaul - Including new cylinder head
Complete respray - Including new front wings
Leather colonised
Wheels refurbished etc, etc.
After this work was completed the car was then kept as a second car and rarely used.
In 2011 the company the car to whom it was registered to went into liquidation and was sold off to Mr Bullock, unfortunately in this process the bulk of the history and invoices for the work from 2005 and previous history were lost in the handover. Although the next owner had owned it for many years it has in spent a lot of time being dry stored and not been used on road. (Hence the gap in the MOT’s)
