2009 Mercedes C220 Elegance
Hello, first post on here 😌

I recently purchased a 2009 mercedes c220 (non runner) and the seller said that the starter motor was the problem, but when i got the car home, i would turn the key in the ignition switch thing and no lights would come up on the dash. This makes me believe there is something else wrong with the car.

I have tried putting another battery in, didnt work.
There is one green fuse (fuse 27) that if you take out and put back in, all the lights would come up on the dash, but the car would still not start. When those lights come on, i also notice the wipers and indicators don’t work, the navigation system doesn’t work, and one of the 12v plugs dont work either. The lights disappear when you take the key out.
The car does not crank, i only hear a small click when i try and start the car. All the fuses are fine.

The keys lock, unlock and open the boot perfectly, And my car is a right hand drive (i think left hand ones have a different fusebox layout so i have attached the diagram below 👇 ) the car is amazing so if anyone can help me, it would be great 😊

Welcome aboard buying a non running mercedes is a gamble, but even more so if you cannot read the codes, suggest you buy maybe a icarsoft code reader it will make life a little easier, maybe get a auto electrician to come round again it might be cheaper and quicker with regard the starter maybe get a decent size screwdriver and bridge the terminals of the starter that will either make the starter turn the car over if it is ok or not.

Welcome.
As zipdip has stated, it's always best if you can get any error codes read , but I'm wondering if maybe you have a problem with the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch). It is a know issue with these cars and can cause some of the symptoms you describe.
If you search the web for "Mercedes EIS Repair" you'll find a number of specialist companies who can fix the problem.

Thanks Mikey. Would the EIS solve my starting problem too or would it only fix the lights on the dash?

Well any code reader is better than none but the icarsoft is mercedes specific, but no harm in trying your reader out,as SpikyMickey has said EIS is a problem with these cars it is 13 years old,and it might well get the car starting.

OP , hello and welcome . No idea what that code reader is but just plug it in and see what it says . Let us know what codes it displays.
