Mercs latest AMG, fancy one? 🙂

Ignoring the EV thing, I don't mind it. You have to push designs forward and the way to do that its to do things in a unconventional way....and this is bound to upset a few purists and and might not be to the taste of others. You soon get used to things....those huge BMW grilles for example....did not like them at all when I first saw them......now they have become common place I don't even notice them....the M4 version looks great to my eyes now.
The only negative on the Merc is that there seem to be quite a few lines (and the grille) that have ideas stolen from the Mazzer GT.....to my eyes at least.
We all know that there is a big difference between the show/concept/prototype cars and production models....I can see much of that interior making the cut.

I agree, it doesn't have a carburetor either. Absolute pile of garbage

I'd take this over it any day:

Nothing to do about being a EV! even if it had a stonking V8 under the bonnet its the interior that im commenting on, like a lot of modern day Mercs too much Glinzy chrome effect and polished plastic trim looks awful in my eyes but everybody to there own

I've never owned an AMG car.
From what I used to think about these cars, it was the acceleration,
the sound and often you could get a family car type, ie e/c/cls etc.

During the last few years, many, run of the mill eletric cars can match or beat handsdown an AMG on a 0-60mph.

The closest I got to an AMG was my brother who is a bit older than me bought an AMG CLS, brand new one at that. It looked awesome, sounded good.
I've always had a soft spot for the CLS, especially the last versions but I'm used to sitting high up, ie gle. One of sisters husbands at the time bough a year old CL - it was not an amg but that too was very cool, though it looked a bit like a wedge shape looking at it from the side.

Bro sold the car when it 9/10 years old, the miles were about 40k on it. He sold it because, like the mechanic in in the youtube (SPR)vlogs stated

"AMG means all money gone.."

So why do people go AMG these days

The elctric and or hybrid I think you can get are just carring on with the name for the sake of AMG IMO. Yesterday, as we came back home about 6pm, in front of me was a car that looked like an early Korean effort for the 80's, it was an electric 'Mustang' and the reason I knew it was a 'Mustang' was I read the name stuck on the back. Then just after that, I saw another joke, a ' Jeep' written in larger letters in what looked like a toy car. One of our son's has recently bought again another Jeep, a Grand Cherokke, that looks and sounds like a Jeep. Then you have the Ford Capri, IIRC the name is returning or has return - its a joke, nothing like the Capris form the early 70's and 80's.

The car, the orange ,merc, at first glance it looks like the Porsche Panemerra or whatever it's called and I like the shape of that and this builds on it. Though the front grill and badge looks too big mouthed IMO.

Talking about Mercs, Orange and Big Gobs.
Wouldn't say no, though. 🙂👍

To me, the brand AMG is/was about subtle high levels of performance and something a bit different, a little more exclusive, than the everyday MBs you see on the roads.

In a sort of ‘speak softly, but carry a big stick’ way. I think the boundaries have moved on, times have changed, the appeal is more widespread and there are a lot more models to choose from now. They’re more affordable and accessible than ever, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Internal combustion engines are a dying breed so it makes perfect sense to invest in new technologies and adapt - otherwise it’s just going to become irrelevant and the brand would become history.

The car in question here is certainly generating interest and debate, and the statistics are impressive. Hopefully as part of the Mercedes-Benz group the technology and learning from designs like this will filter down to the mainstream over time too

As always, plenty of choice of cars out there (both new and used, and not just MB) - not all cars are for everyone and so don’t expect to like this car - perhaps you’re not the target customer :)
