Metal Detector - suggestions needed

My son suggested a while back that he'd like one.

He's 3 but is as tall as many 4 / 5 year olds!

Has anyone any experince of a good one that might be suitable.

Its going to be a Christmas present.

I'll bury stuff in the garden and he'll have fun finding it and digging it out! Plus we'll take it to beaches for him to have fun with etc...

I think maplin do some cheapish ones, but for a three year old you probably want a robust one?

not sure if ELC would have them?

Saying that even the one I have is pretty 'strong' not a lot to break as it were?
