is it easy to replace the black plastic with metal door lock pins as on the AMG ? seen them on ebay but not sure if they just unscrew off ?

my friend has a E400 saloon 2019 he has the chrome door pins , but also seen them on AMG models too . do they unscrew off or is it more complex as dont want to snap off current black plastic ones !!!

Just found this from member @Alps from when he bought a W212 and changed them over: -

AMG Door Pins

The E63 still comes with crappy plastic door pins which Mercedes have used over last few decades, I decided to put in some AMG ones which are available at the dealers part number 0007660228 front, 0007660328 rear.

Front – these screw out, they are screwed in very tight so open the window and get some pliers on to unscrew. Put a dab of glue on the new ones and screw them in until they are flush when locked ensuring the AMG logo is facing you.

Rear- These pull off, get a pair of pliers holding near the top making sure window is open and give them a good pull and they will pop off, dab a bit of clue on the new ones and pop them in.

Should work for you hopefully...

excellent thanks

local main dealer says £80 plus vat for 2 pins !!! i dont think so will put up with black after all ...

I have them on the CL :D

found a pair on google !!! £25 inc postage happy days !!

There are lots of threaded chrome pins available for vw cars. The thread on the pin is a larger diameter but I wrapped some self amalgamating tape on the rod and they screwed in nicely. Look great and cost less than a tenner from amazon. Left the back doors alone as pulling the pins off is a bit fraught and the back side windows are so tinted you can’t see the nasty plastic mb items from the outside.
