If thr car as been standing for a substantial length of time then this can casue distortion and corrosion to the tyre wall...caravan tyres are forever
susceptible to this as they invariably stand for 11 months of the year...check the walls for corrosion/cracking....
 
Cheers guys... Got to the root of the problem and it wasn't the tyres after all. The left control arm bushings and steering damper were weak causing vibration at certain speeds. At least that was what the garage said. Parts on order so will know soon enough.
 
When I lived in France I had a little Alfa and the helpful dealer told me that the vibration was because the alloy wheels were no longer round.

And when I changed the wheels the vibration went away...
