Hi,
Does anybody here know a crowd called AB Solutions in Bury. Guy there apparently is Nick?

Would be interested to know of any experiences with them, as they have totally failed to deliver on the retrofit of a factory parktronic system on my partners SLK (they were chosen and instructed by the dealer).
The system that they provided is completely Mickey Mouse - and the sensors don't even match properly. They guy has been supposedly calling me to arrange putting things right for 2 weeks. The dealer is now going to put this to somebody else.

I bought 'factory' parktronic, and that is what I will get!

not good, esp as retro parktronic will cost a packet

good luck with that , have they used any original MB parts?

Not for me! - I've paid for this already as part of the deal. Just need to get the dealer to deliver. To be fair both the sales guy and the general sales manager have confirmed it will be factory, so...

They haven't as yet - I'll take some pics of the install tis morning and post on here. The General Sales Manager has confirmed that they will supply the displays and the new speaker / heater grill for the dash etc, so I just need to keep behind them.
Apparently they have another installer who is a National outfit (hopefull not Helfrauds :D) that they will put on the job.

I am trying to remin calm but purposeful, and confirmed the situation and agreement in writing etc.

Taken some pics
Sensors - note colour match:crazy:
Front display - worst bit of all - and only works after you touch the brake and approach something slowly - also wiring and look of unit.
Rear display - not too bad looking, except it always beeps (right in your ear:eek:) as soon as you engage reverse, then keeps beeping as you approach something.

I wouldn't be very happy with that at all, what did you say the name of the company was, Bodgit and Scarper?!

The parts look like someone's emptied their kitchen drawers out and sellotaped some bits of plastic together

Hope you get it sorted out. Good luck!

:(

not many people will do factory parktronic retrofit... even the dealers dont want to do it.

Braybrooks are the only one that comes to mind

£1900 for retro-fit on a W203

Thats not the same as my original parktronic indicator units on my C Class.
They look rubbish in comparison. My front indication unit is part of the top aircon outlet grille and looks "proper". Yours looks like a retrofit bodge done by a first fix chippy.
I would NOT accept that.
Compare what you have with a "proper" installation and see for yourself.
This is what the front parktronic indicator looks like in my W203..........

Thanks
That's similar to the one in my 209.
I have no intention of accepting this, but unfortunately these things can take time to sort. I am keeping the pressure on the dealer, and we both understand that this will not go away.
Will keep you all posted

OK - result!

I met with the head of the dealership group a couple of weeks ago, and he agreed to either give me a full refund on the car, or retrofit a factory parktronic system and the voice control lever.
My partner opted for the retrofit, and they were supposed to be ordering the parts and working out the job.

He has called me today to say that rather than uninstall the aftermarket system and all the other bits, plus taking the car apart etc - they would rather order us a new replacement vehicle from the factory with all of the bits factory fitted (plus anything we want to add) and then exchange the car on the exact same terms as we are on now. Car will be available early Sept and be on a 59 plate.

just goes to show what a pain (and how expensive) properly retrofitting OEM parktronic is

well done

Also goes to show something about the dealer as well .....

To be fair - the General Manager was top notch. He accepted that his people had made the commitment, and it must be honoured.

He had his guys look into it, but I am sure when they did the maths on it, it made more sense to take the hit on a new vehicle - and move what is still a very sexy car into the used stock. It only owes him what the internal cost is for a new car, and with only 1800 miles on it is sure to move on quite easily.

Fair enough.

But the lead-up to this little debacle and the three months since?

But was this a new car misordered from the factory. Or one off-the-shelf to which Parktronic was to be retrofitted?

And the alleged 'Parktronic' - was that an honest mistake or an attempt to mislead you?

Now suppose it was an aged relative who placed the order? Would they have had the energy and wherewithall to get the same result at this establishment given what you've been through?

The 3 months was as much me giving them time to sort - I was also extremely busy and in London a Lot of the time.

The vehicle was an existing one that they wanted to sell and the inexperienced salesman (now gone) and his Sales Manager (also now gone) were making promises that they were going to have difficulty supporting. I challenged the 'factory parktronic' a number of times - and would have preferred to wait for a factory order rather than have a crappy install, but this was for their 1st quarter figures, and as such they wanted to deliver the car asap. OK - so live with the consequences.

As for your last point - I fully accept that - I am well able to deal with this situation, and between staying calm, putting things in writing, and giving them the opportunity to resolve the issue - I got the result. That's not to say that an aged relative wouldn't have got the solution, but there are ways and ways.

My brothers suggestion was a touch less tactful. I doubt that would have helped the situation

Hello

Sorry to hear about this, Have you paid in full for the work?

Not sure you even need parking sensors on a SLK...but hey ho too late now.

For £30 I think mine look better fitted myself :)
