I cleaned my new 124 for the first time tonight and had the carpets out for a poke around.

Under the driver's footwell carpet theres a small bracket with a wire to a sprung-loaded things that appears to be a microswitch.

I have so many questions that I hope the Haynes manual that I have on order will answer, but in the meantime, can anyone tell me what it is?

Could it be a hidden switch to immobilise the car?
Got a picture?

Most likely a reset switch for the fuel pump cut off inertia switch. If the vehicle has a shunt or a rollover the inertia switch cuts the fuel pumps and opens the central locking mechanism.
