Want to do a mid service oil and filter change on my facelift C63 AMG, I'm new to these cars and just want to confirm I'm using a suitable oil.

I'm looking at using a Mercedes Oil Filter and Castrol Edge Titanium 5W-40 (I have always preferred 5W-40 in my Audi S4 and have never had any issues. It appears to meet the MB229.51 specification.

Castrol Edge Titanium 5W-40 FST Synthetic Engine Oil

Have I got it right ??

Yes, I did see that......... But Mercedes recomends (In the User Manual) 0W-40 or 5W-40 and both meet the MB229.51 specification.

I don't think we get the freezing weather that needs 0W-40 and 5W-40 is more suited to our weather, with less likelyhood of bleed back from followers etc.

It does seem to be a debate though 0W-40 or 5W-40 ??

The 0W-40 will flow more easily at start-up, getting round the engine more quickly but still maintain film strength at operating temps?

Point taken............ Decisions Decisions.
