Hi All,

As the other thread is now over 25 pages long I thought I would summarise.

Getting Here:

Mercland, 95 Whittleford Rd, Nuneaton, CV10 9JD

GTG.jpg

At this end of the building (Same end as the pole sign) there is an entrance that leads to the rear of the building.
Hopefully this is where you will find fellow starspotters.

I (& Goldfish) will be here from early on, but I suggest an informal arrival time of 11.00 onwards to give everybody plenty of time to arrive from the far reaches of the country.

Food:

Golfish_11 will kindly be providing barbecue equipment and will be organising the meat for the BBQ.

We are going to ask for a contribution of around £2 (TBC) per eating head to cover the cost of the food, gas etc. For that you can have a burger and a couple of sausages each.

We plan to supply the bread/buns, sauces, cheese slices, sausages, burgers, sauces/relishes (as requested - extra hot sauce for KBhogal) and soft drinks.

So that we dont have a mad rush at around lunch time, we will have a raffle book and we will call numbers as the food is cooked to BBQ perfection!

Any volunteers on the BBQ are welcome as it would be nice for us to do a little paintwork admiring too!

If you would like salad or any other food, I suggest you bring your own.

There is a well stocked costcutter shop & off licence on site so you can buy last minute snacks and groceries from there if you wish!

What happens at a GTG?

For those of us who have been to a few GTG's, its all about getting to know the community and of course admiring the cars on display.
Dieselman has suggested that we have something a little different to break up the day. I think its a great idea!
Suggestions welcome here:

Services on Offer:

- Various MB Star Systems will be available on the day. Primary contact is Alfie but Olly and a friend of mine should also be bringing their machines. So any issues or mods, I suggest you get done on the day...

- My Electronics/Electrical Fitting expert will be there too. If anyone wants park sensors, comand installs (in conjunction with Alfie), trackers etc, his name is Pete and if you ask me, I will introduce him.

- The company that did all my leather retrims will be there too, so if anyone is considering an interior redo, have a chat with them if only for ideas... Again speak to me and ill introduce you.

- Air Con Servicing. So far I have Howard, Pammy & Flyer down, if anyone else wants this, do let me know as its worth doing at a special rate of £35.

I think thats about it!

Parking

Obviously it would look pretty in the pictures if models were parked together, so if there is space, then do park next to fellow models, if not, no big deal. We have alot of people coming and it would be too complicated to plan it perfectly.

I think thats about it. Apart from that we need everyone to cross fingers for the weather and to enjoy the day.

any further questions would be better in the original thread to avoid this one getting confusing too! Ill update this thread with any new info.

Night Before

Many are staying at the Chase Hotel, Higham Lane, so meet there for drinks the night before? I wont get away from work before 9, so ill be there then!

My mobile number is on my website, incase of any last minute questions, feel free! Dont bother ringing the land line as ill most likely be outside all day!

Jay

(could a mod make this a sticky please)

And i'll bring a tin of white masonry paint , we can have a go at that front wall ;)

Meat has just been ordered

Just placed the order for 260 nice sausages and 150 burgers

There will also be a veggie BBQ which Jay is sorting.

Please can I ask people not to bring there own stuff to BBQ (unless you have very special dietry requirements) This complicates things considerably.

But do bring Salad if you want it.

Can we a list of overniters ?

Racall +1 Chase hotel

I will bring my work clothes and if anyone wants anyting done (with Jay's permission) I will be happy to oblige.

Ill start this on the other thread.

Olly, no problem using ramps, just not too many people in workshop due to H&S, tools lying around etc!

Forgot to add

- Erase-a-dent will be there, usual charge is around £40 per panel so any dings can be removed on the day...
- If there are any kids coming, please be careful as the site is busy at the front, so if going around to the shop, please ensure kids are accompanied by an adult at all times.

Jay , if i can persuade one of the mechanics that will be there to have a look , can i pop my car on a ramp please ?

I have an annoying squeal that happens when i rev the car , and then it returns again as the revs die ....

We've had a cursory look but can't see anything that could cause it , checked the belts , not them ( i think ) and looked for hoses sucking air ...

When you drive the car , it sounds ( a little bit ) like the noise an air cooled beetle makes . It is definately on the engine as it makes the noise when stationary ( initially i thought it might be a stone stuck in a brake pad )

Anyway , it's annoying me and i'd like to sort it out if i can ? :)

standard squeeking on a 3.2 V6...forget trying to fix it, its a feature!!

yep, if its a little squeal at idle/low revs that dies off as you rev then yes, forget it, its staying! There may be a fix i dont know about but chances are its too expensive to consider.

That sounds remarkably like the problem I had ... it was the clamp where the right-hand downpipe connected to the exhaust. It had corroded, allowing exhaust gases to escape. Sounded just like a Beetle and got progressively worse.

Could it be that Howard?

Thats exactly it ....

As i pull off the lights , its there until i get to about 30 mph , then goes ...

If you rev the car gently at standstill it happens between 800-1200 ish and then goes , when you lift off the gas it does the same between 800-1200 ish as well ...

If you boot the car , it isn't there at all ...

What is it that causes it then ?

Flyer , that sounds like it ...

I got under it earlier and thought it might be from the exhaust ....

Have you got a welder on site Jay ? ;)

There's another game we can play on the day:

We'll all have a go at welding Howard's exhaust. Points for the neatest / worst / funniest etc :D

Mr Walker did mine last Sunday, and a fine job he did too. Cut off the ends of the pipe, put new clamps on and welded the ends back on. The old clamp was rotten, completely rusted through; there's no way it could have been repaired.
