Recently purchased a used mercedes from a used car dealer.

The first service after the vehicle was 1 year old is recorded with the following details (from mercedes)

1626987316256.png

The last known mileage is 10k more than the reading at the time of the service.
Am i correct in thinking there is a discrepancy/clocked?
The vehicle was (possibly) in at mercedes for some other work with mileage at 15,752 - it was then clocked back stating figure of 4786 when it was for a service.

Or

is the last known mileage the actual last time the mileage was recorded at mercedes - for what ever reason? From my knowledge the vehicle only had the one service at mercedes.
Would all mercedes dealers have records of a vehicles service history - even if the vehicle visited different franchises?

VOSA mileage adds up but obviously there is no MOT records for first 3 years.

I believe the mileage is stored in various modules. If connected to STAR would it be a reasonably easy job of checking modules to see if mileage is consistent?

It doesn’t really explain your discrepancy but certainly on mine I have an instance where the total distance travelled in km was incorrectly recorded as miles, as at the time I was doing more European trips so had the instruments set to km. So it appears at first glance my mileage went up then down. Luckily I have all the other servicing docs to explain it. But the km to miles conversion doesn’t really tally with yours. It could also be a typo somewhere, it’s not unheard of. What’s the current mileage?

I think you need to post up all the info you have regarding mileage.
What did you buy at? What does it have now? Are there any service records with mileage written on them? Is there any mileage stated on the V5 transfers? Is there any mileage via DVLA e.g. tax, which I believe has to be done every year, even if it is zero rated?

From the Mercedes info, it reads to me like on 06.06.2017 Mercedes worked on the car at 4,786 miles, and then at some later date, information came to Mercedes that the mileage was 15,752.
It's not stated what date applies to the 15,752.

Maybe a call or visit to your local Mercedes dealership to see if you can get the dates confirmed for when this information was entered?

As of 2008, MB have been using the Digital Service Book (DSB) to centrally record services.

Any franchised MB dealer, as well as independent MB specialists who signed-up to the DSB, will have access to it.

If you take your V5C and an ID and walk into any MB dealership, they will provide you with a printed hardcopy of the car's service history.

You can also email MB Customer Services with scans of these documents, and they will send you a copy by email.

And last, if you get the car serviced by an MB dealer, they will provide you after the service with Digital Service Record that will have a SecCode printed on it. The SecCode will allow you to access the DSB yourself over the Internet (you will need to create a Mercedes me account online and register your car's VIN to it first).

Obviously, only services that were carried-out at a franchised MB dealer, or at a specialist with access to the DSB, will be recorded on the MB DSB.

As for the service history you got with the car, this looks like a screenshot from an online system rather than a printout of the service history.

I would get an official copy of the service history from MB before passing any judgement.

At any rate, what is the mileage now? Even in the unlikely event that your 2016 car somehow 'lost' 10k miles in year 1, it might make little difference for its value now, so the issue could be academic anyway.

But again, I wouldn't trust the screenshot you were given.

That’s a normal thing on the digital service record. The last known mileage is exactly that, the most recent mileage that mercedes are aware of. This can be from a recent service, a recall or an mot test. I don’t know why they show it on every page of the service record, but they do. If today the car is showing something more than that figure on its odometer nothing is amiss. If it is showing less than that figure something is wrong.

Thanks all.

Thinking about it now it does make sense, last known recorded mileage is the last point mercedes had in contact with the vehicle.

I emailed a copy of V5 and ID to [email protected]-benz.com yesterday evening.
I will see if I can visit a local dealer.

Vehicle is a 2016 and has 25k on the clock now.
Has been serviced:
4786k
<Service being located> - Previous owner has been contacted to locate where she had serviced
25k (by the dealer - pre sale)

So x3 services in 25k mile period.
