Someone that's had split fold rear seats in a W211 saloon will know what I'm talking about....

When you fold the seats back into position, they leave a gap at first, which is then closed. But I've forgotten how to do it.

Can anyone remind me what to do, to close that last four centimetre gap between the base and back cushion?

(The gap is "designed in" to enable the seat to be dropped in around the seatbelt furniture.)

As background information, here are photos of the seat cushion when folded back, and of the beautifully made hinge design.

Solved: You just have to lubricate the seat base hinges and give them a firmer shove, ideally by levering your arm against the back of one of the front seats.

I would guess that these haven't been used in the last 13 years since the car left Sindelfingen.

Only just seen this - in my experience just sitting on the base is enough to “click“ it back in.
