My wifes town hack, the engine bottom end went, looking at the fault seems to be a common fault with the thrust bearing on the crank, or lack of it, anyway its been stripped and currently being upgraded, I have no real knowledge on these so this is what I have done so far, and Jerry will be mapping it.

Engine fully rebuild

New rings
Rod and Main Bearings with modified thrust to prevent the same problem happening again
Bores Plateau Honed
Crank reground
head fully rebuild with new guides
New water pump, Oil Pump etc original parts
New oil Pick up
250 Profile new camshaft
New JCW Supercharger
GP Intercooler
17% reduction pulley with belt
NGK BCR8ES Plugs

Anything I have missed or recommendations let me know please

There is a stupid oil cooler that can fail and do this

So maybe consider a new one while you have it in bits.

Oil pumps are weak, but you already mentioned a new one of those.

Avoid cranking the engine with your foot on the clutch. I know a lot of people do this, but it loads the thrust washers before oil pressure has been established and causes them to wear. This is exacerbated if an upgraded clutch cover is fitted.
