Saw a lot of VW Passat during opening ceremony. Is it the official Olympic cars to ferry athletics around ?

If they were old model Passat then they are now assembled in China and ALL taxis white ones - they bought the production line from VW - they do this with a number of 'western' manufacturers - and they are cheap for the people to buy

Not quite right.
The car is different to the Passat in so much as it has a longer wheelbase and rear doors. It has always been built in China and is used as official cars.

It was also built as another model car.....Skoda Superb.
