just got car back from Eurocharged due to vibration issues at around 70MPH, so decided to take the faster, longer route home from Harrow; M40. well the new engine mount has worked and vibration gone. Decided to fluctuate speed from around 70 MPH to XXX MPH; being 7.30 am roads were still quiet. saw a nice jaguar XJR and he pulled over politely from 4th lane to 3rd, new shape Range Rover sport in front decided he would push speed up; he was already doing 90 MPH, I politely kept my distance but he was reluctant to pull in the 3rd lane to let me through and just kept increasing his speed.... eventually he pulled in the 3rd lane and I passed by around XXX MPH, was waiting for him to come up behind me but gather realised the vehicle I had, and he reduced to 80 MPH. I obviously had a big grin on my face. as with most AMG's; when someone sees the car in their rear mirror it can look standard but when it passes and you see the various mods, quad exhausts etc. they assume its a 'fast' one but in one way I do like the look of the car but I am getting twitch to strip all the 'go faster' markings of it and to make it look more discreet and sense of satisfaction may increase?

Let's not kid ourselves, boys....

The RR could have gone a lot faster if the driver had wanted to. He did not. I often do exactly the same as he if a car is behind me and plainly wants to pass, but I cannot pull in; I speed up until I CAN pull in so as not to baulk the other car unnecessarily.

So true. Had a little fun following an Audi S3 yesterday on the M3. Both of us had cars capable of 155+ but there is no way you are going to do that on the UK roads if you value your licence. The S3 pulled off at Winchester and gave me a (friendly) wave as he left. Just how it should be.

The RR could have gone a lot faster if the driver had been able to afford the petrol.

Fixed that for you :thumb:

With the earlier post, regarding being critical of others on the forum, in mind I will not comment further on drivers doing xxx miles per hour to pass another car already doing 90!

Stay safe and away from me please, whatever time of day it is.

Lane 3.

When the roles are reversed and I'm being unnecessarily pushed along, I wait for a decent gap in lane 2 and then give it some kickdown before moving over.

After that, the distant speck in the mirror can overtake whenever he/she likes - point having been made.

There's no point spending your hard earned on all that power if you're not going to use it occasionally.

Literally seconds of fun .

What a strange thing to do, either drive faster generally, or move over.

Just out of interest..... do you think the man in the Range Rover Sport is currently on the RR Forum recounting his story of how he drops it down a cog then waits to see if the distant spec Merc can be bothered to overtake etc??

I like fun in my car, I like to drive it normally often too.

Previous experiences:

1. I had a 911 for a while.... never drive at 70mph... everybody speeds up to avoid you overtaking... drive at 50mph or 90mph
2. Alpina forum is full of deluded blokes kidding themselves their 20 year old BMW is some kind of loaded weapon they have been entrusted with. I love Alpinas.

Yes, lunch time here in sunny QLD.

I am used to talking to myself..... some the best arguments I have.

One thing to be wary of , gents , is that other car could just be an unmarked police car .

Since the proceeds of crime legislation came in , all sorts of fancy vehicles have been seized from drugs barons etc , sometimes they are auctioned , but some end up being used as unmarked police cars , which can be just about anything you wouldn't expect the police to be using .

All I ask is that you chest beating willy comparers, when you are prosecuted and disqualified, don't start another thread about speed enforcement being a revenue gathering exercise.

Here we go again......The evil AMG people destroying the image of the gentleman wafting along in his MB without a care in the world.

I must be seen as Satan in disguise with a modified C63!!!!

Is this really true ?

I've never heard of any UK police force using second-hand cars of unknown provenance that they have seized from dodgy members of the public.

It's a good disguise, I'm in league with the devil apparently and I didn't recognise you ;) :D

Correct. They go to the auction or scrapper.
