I just posted in another thread and kinda took it off topic, so I thought I'd start again here.
When I bought my 2014 W204 C180, I was given MB minor damage insurance free of charge. The first time I had cause to use it, I had a small scratch and dent to a rear door. Looked through my flashy MB branded brochure and called the number to request a repair. So far so good.
This was the first time that I found out that it was not in fact MB who were carrying out the repair, but it was an "approved" mobile repairer who would attend my home address or place of work. I won't mention the the company who attended as I have nothing nice to say about them, but suffice to say that they are a very well known franchised company who carry out mobile repairs.
Anyway, so I book an appointment fot the man in a van to come and carry out my repair. The nearest date was about 6 weeks away, so I had to wait quite a while and drive around an albeit very minorly damaged car.
The day comes.....he attends, on time and is very polite
He takes a good few hours and finally tells me he's done. All this time I'm periodically watching out of the window. I see him sand back, fill, paint etc (I'm no repair specialist so am not sure exactly what was done)
I check the car over and everything looks fine and dandy to me!
He tells me as he's parting that the paint may dull over the next couple of days, but that's normal, and if this happens, ring him direct (he gave me his mobile number) and he'll return and re polish it.
About two weeks later, as I approach the car, I see a patch where the repair was that looks like water on the car, like you'd get on a cold night. I go to wipe the water off and nothing, it's under the paint.
I call the guy back and he apologises, says that the moisture was trapped under the paint and basically re does the entire job. Back to sanding down and re painting, but with longer under the heat lamps.
Jobs done again and he leaves. Again, looks OK to my untrained eye.
Then I'm at my local MB dealer and am looking at a CLA, dealer comes out and looks over my car, which is in direct very bright sunlight, and points out a very obvious repair, colour difference and all! (Repair looked purplely compared to the rest of the bodywork)
Anyway, I call them up again, this time not direct to the guy who came out, but their office, explain the situation to them so far. They apologise and tell me they'll send their "best" technician this time who they have never had a problem with!
To cut a very long story short, this is a third failed attempt and successfully repairing a very small dent and scratch!
I go to my dealer where I bought the car and speak to the salesman who I have know for a good few years. He puts me onto MB complaints/customer service and they agree to take the car in to a MB body shop to repair the damage properly. They look at the car prior to this and agree 100% that's it's a very poor repair.
So MB repair the vehicle and deliver it back to me
a very happy bunny I am.
I had firer issues that are off topic to this thread lol but my main question is......Has anyone else had any issues with this minor damage insurance offered by MB?
