Hi,

Has anyone tackled this project on thier own ?

The rust is minor and has not penetrated the the depth of the metal and can be repaired.

What would a indy charge for minor repairs over 4 x wheel arches, one tiny corner of bootlid and around the front badge ?

Cheers - only 1 day into project ownership

How old is your car?

MB have a very good policy of either totally dealing with or partially contributing towards managing rust. There are terms and conditions such as the age of the vehicle, whether or not it has a full MB service history and how long you've owned it for but by my estimation, if your car is less than 8 years old and has developed rust, that as long as someone hasn't already resprayed it, it may well be covered by MB.

Have a chat with MB about it before anything else just incase. Then make sure that if they say no to helping you to sort it out, that you find a bloody good indie to do a proper job on it.

I've had some very positive results from dealing directly with my local MB Main dealer and I encourage you to at least run it by them.

i would have thought for a good job, around £475-500 cash, or £600+vat with a receipt.

Car is 1999 E320

Would it be still be covered ?
Any good bodyshops in surrey/ middlesex ?

Cheers

Kooper74, as I said, take it to your local MB main dealer and let them decide if your car is still covered or not. Make sure you take your registration cert, service history book (if you have one and it is fully MB serviced, this will stand in your favour) and let them tell you. You have nothing to lose except for a little time getting it checked.

Because of the age of your car, if MB strictly follow the terms of their rust cover warrantee thingy, you're definitely not covered.

Sorry no idea about good bodyshops in those areas but there is a section of this forum which is dedicated to recognised MB traders of all shapes and sizes. Check it out.
