I have been told that I have a slight fracture in the 'Mixture Adaption Pipe' of my Mercedes 180K. The car has only 40,000 on the clock and was first registered on 10/8/04. What I am trying to find out is as follow:- Firstly could this be put down by Mercedes as 'fair wear and tear'. Is this fault a common fault with the 'C' series. Where can I go to get help in proving that the fault is a manufacturing fault or a fault with the pipe. Should I really just accept the fault and pay the £700.00 plus with a smile on my face. What should I be doing about it..............????

this should only cost 1.5hrs plus the price of the pipe at the very most. mercedes will have said that the manifold needs to be removed to change all the pipes, but it is only one that fails, and can be done without taking the manifold off.

i suggest you find a competent specialist that knows about this common problem.
