How easy is it to update to the last style of bonnet? Is the slam panel the same? Does it need modifying to accept the new headlamps? I have seen a few conversions, but they were being driven at the time! Am going on holiday soon, so I'm not being rude if I don't reply immediately. Many thanks.

Do you mean, to the later 124 stlye, or to the 210 style (round headlamps)??

either way, you will need at least bonnet, headlights, grill and bonnet star, and in the worst case, bonnet, lights, grill, under headlamp trim, bonnet star, wings

All the panels are designed to fit on an original chassis... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Dose this mean that you could just get the panels from a later car with round lights, and bolt them straight onto mine? So what is that kit all about, is that someone just selling a complete set of bits, to save me collecting them?

People are getting confused, sorry, should have been more specific. How easy is it to update a w124, 1986-88 and 1989-94 to 1995-96 inset grille model? Or to put it anther way, to convert a 200e to an e200? Hope this clears it up!

geoff, they are not original parts...

just made by an aftermarket company to bolt on a W124.

Tabs, just need bonnet, grill, bonnet star and headlights, but to make it look authentic get all side mouldings/bumpers to match also. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

That is one tacky conversion!!

The first time i saw one in real life, i was like &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;YUCK, the panels are misaligned, the proportions are wrong and it is a rip-off of a better car...TACKY! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

sorry, i didnt clarify, was talking to 2 different people at once.

The kit used on a W124 uses completely different panels from that of a 210 althought they look similiar...IMHO it is a good conversion, designed and made well... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

To throw a spanner in the works I saw a few yrs ago a company advertising in top marques who updated fromt ends on mercs from the single headlamp style to the new twin type. Is this possible to do on my w129 1992 sl?
Cheers Pete

Regarding changing a w124 CE to a W210 look.

There was a company in the UK called ADT who did these conversions: ADT
But it seems they no longer carry out this work as it is not listed on the web site anymore  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
Looks like a good conversion though:

hmmm...picture wont post so visit this CE page and scroll down: ADT-300CE

If converting a W124 CE I would think of the later W124 conversion, as I'm not sure what impact a hybrid w124/w210 would have on insurance and re-sale(looks good though)

Dosent change insurance at all...but it is supposed to increase the value, some say it devalues it, but they say this about all modifications to 'prestige' cars... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

heres a taster of the bolt-on conversion...

I can get it for £2K, but not in large amounts.

BTW, it is for both W124 and W202 (C-Class)

but i can also get the c-class conversion, so it has the W203 headlights etc.

Ill post a pic once i find one... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
