Hello, I've spent a fair bit of time and effort sorting out a mk1 16V that i was going to use for trackdays, hillclimbs, sprints and as a fun on the road car. However i'm now having second thoughts and am thinking about selling it, basically i'm now trying to work out how big the market is for a car like this and whether its worth me selling it or not. If it isn't i guess i'll have to keep it and start saving for my next project!

The spec is as goes:

Y reg mk1 Golf GTi shell with 97,000miles on it
1.8 16V engine and 16V gearbox
16V brake conversion
4 branch manifold and jetex rallye 2 1/2" exhaust sytem (brand new yet to be fitted)
OZ Racing superturismo wheels + spare set of TSW Stealths
Safety Devices 6 point cage with fixed rear diag, installed properly (will pass scruitineering for hillclimbs etc)
Corbeau Forza Sport seat with Luke 4 point harnesses and properly fitted eyes
Proper seat bars made and fitted, not subframe to floor
Koni top adjustable suspension
unknown springs (possibly Jamex if the reciept is correct but no identifying marks)
Fully stripped inside
Steering lock removed for safety on track (you can kill engine and still steer)
Oil pressure warning light installed, extra VDO guages are fitted in dash but yet to be properly wired up, senders needed
Some parts of the suspension have been polybushed

The car still needs some minor finishing which i'll go into in detail with you if your interested, you can call me on 07980 223132 or email/add me messenger if you want to discuss the car. To build a similar car your looking in excess of £1000 labour, nevermind buying the parts.

I'm looking at around £1800 but am open to reasonable offers.

you could sell that easily in max power, or one of the vw mags,
sounds like great little car though
 
lol its not a 'max power' sort of car mate. No **** bodykits or big alloys to be seen here.
 
how much is insurance for such a thing? will it be expensive because of the mods?
 
Mk1 golf GTi the best track day car i ever owned, it woz fairly high spec tho, used to belong to phil wight whos quite a good racer!

1600cc 8 valves and 173bhp plus it wieghed nothin!

you would have to talk to phill wight about the motor i just bought it after he finished racing it, it had a good box in it too, different gears out of different cars made it close ratio,

i sold it to a guy called andy waters from horncastle in lincs he owns a VW specialists there they do mid engine conversions and such, if you call him he,ll tell you about the motor
