Ml 270cdi split injector

2003 ml 270cdi
Hi today I bought 270cdi ml but on way home it burst no.3 injector spilling diesel everywhere.the injector is relatively easy to change.but the issue I cant get my head round is the car cut out at the same time and wont restart?I know 1 injector has failed completely but surely it would still run on the other 4.can anyone help me out with info on this?thanks
 
Nope, if leak is so bad that rail pressure drops, ecu cut out injection. Another cut out triggering event is if electric connector is loosen/pin withdrawn and ecu detects open circuit of injector solenoid.
 
as a question what would cause an injector to split/blow apart ????
 
What I have seen/read, its usually nozzle holder cap which crack (due to wrong torque, agening who knows). Remember only one for sure (maybe two cases lol) where injector body has been fractured. And also there strory didn't tell what kind of abuse needed for body damage like that. Few cases where leak was coming under solenoid.
 
Ha, i think i understand now, it blew out of its hole, not exploded. I have seen something like that listed before, and its because the bolt has been over tightened and damaged the thread.
They can be rebuilt again. Did the old owner own up to having work down on the injectors ?, i would like to think it was not bodged just to sell it.
