Hi all,

Yesterday evening I was driving around a small roundabout and when leaving the roundabout I heard a noise like a spring had just snapped.

Now I am not sure if it was a spring loaded part of the additional seats in the boot or something worse.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Thanks

If its a sort of boy-oing sort of noise its probably a rear spring. Sometimes something loose in the boot area will give a similar sound as it shifts 0n cornering. Check the car for anything unsecured in that area then find some low speed bumps to drive the car over- not the built up ones-- the type that bolt down on the road-often found on bus routes. If the spring is gone you will hear it boy-oing again. There was recent post where someone lost their rear anti-roll bar links so it might be that. Jacking up the car removing the rear wheel and visual inspection may also help to track down the problem. Unfortunately if its the rear spring in the ML they are usually replaced as a complete strut= spring plus shock absorber.

There are no front springs at the front of an 163 so it must be a rear "if" it was a spring snapping .
