ML tow bar?

Hi, still on the hunt for my ML but have a quick question about the tow bar. Looking at perhaps purchasing one with a rear mounted spare wheel but it isnt fitted with a tow bar. Because of the spare wheel carrier does it require a special tow bar? Seen several after market tow bars advertised but they state NOT suitable for rear mounted spare wheels. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Yes you'll need what's commonly referred to as a "swan neck" which has a longer throw than a traditional tow bar. This is what's fitted when specified as a factory option, and is what most of the big brands offer in a removable fitment.

A removable swan neck is a little more expensive, but worth it IMHO. You'll need one anyway if you tow using an ALKO or Winterhoff stabilser as you need the extra clearance between the towball and the bumper to accomodate the leading edge of the stabliser.
