ML Towbar

Hi

I have recently purchased an ML270 (2003) and was wondering about a towbar.

Is there any chance that it is exists under the bumper and all I need to do is buy the detachable piece or will I need to start with a full installation - either way any experiences, recommendations or costs would be appreciated.

Im pretty sure they are all standard... ihave sold 5 ML's in the last month or so and all have had towbars that simply unhook off...

Nope, it seems they are a £500 option! But its weird as when i used the VIN decoder thingy it doesnt come up as a factory option...

ahhh its option 552.. so yes after a lot of googling, its an option... I cant see any on ebay at the moment tho!

I had a detachable towbar fitted on our 2003 ML - exactly the same as the MB one - for about £320 IIRC. They also put twin electrics on in place of the 13PIN euro-style socket.

As I understand it, the MB fitting kit puts up a warning light on the dash if a trailer light stops working. This is or is about to become a legal requirement.
